Configuring the store section of your Instant Site

A store section is a block with products or categories on your website. The Products store section shows all items you specify as featured products. That way, you can control what goods to show in your online store. The Categories store section contains all the root categories of your catalog.

You have the option to showcase featured products, root categories, or both on a page, as well as adding the Products section to one page and the Categories section on another one.

When adjusting the store section appearance, you can change the title of the store section (e.g., Online Store, Bestsellers, Shop Online, and so on) and customize its font, size, style, and color.

Adding store section to your site

You can add a store section that contains specific products you’d like to feature (bestsellers, new collections, etc.), root categories, or you can add both Products and Categories sections.

You have the flexibility of displaying products and categories on the same page or on different pages. For example, you can show featured products on the New Arrivals page, and display root categories on the Shop by Categories page.

Make sure that products you want to feature are assigned to the Store front page category so that they appear on your site.

To make categories easier to access for the website visitors, set up a categories menu.

To add a store section:

1. From your store admin, go to Website → Edit Site.

2. In the Page dropdown at the top, select the page where you want to add the store section.

3. Click Add Section.

4. Scroll down to Products.

5. Choose between Shop by category and Featured products:

   

6. Click Publish.

That’s it. Depending on what section you have chosen to add, the section name in the menu will be Featured Products or Root Categories:

Designing store section

There are two ways to set up how the store section looks on your website: from the Design page in your store admin and from the Instant Site editor. 

On the Design page in your store admin, you can change the style of both Featured Products and Root Categories sections: choose the size of the product images, change product page layout, choose what to show in a sidebar, and so on.

In the Instant Site editor, you can set the background color for the section, change the title and customize its font, size, style, and color.

Settings in the Instant Site editor prevail over similar settings on the Design page in your store admin.

To change layout of the store sections in the editor:

1. From your store admin, go to Website → Edit Site.
2. In the Page dropdown at the top, select the page.
3. Click on the Featured Products or Root Category section.
4. Make the necessary changes on the Content and Design tabs.
5. Click Publish.

Deleting store section from your site

You can delete the store section from the homepage or any other page of your site. That can be useful if you want to create a landing page without the store section, or the “About us” site that tells your brand story but instead of shopping online you offer the audience to visit your offline store.

To delete the store section from your site:

1. From your store admin, go to Website → Edit Site.
2. In the Page dropdown at the top, select the page.
3. Click on the Featured Products or Root Category section.
4. Click Delete page at the bottom of the page.

You can always add the store section back to any page of your site.

The store will remain available via a direct link ending with /products. For example, mystore.com/products. To make the store completely inaccessible to customers, close the storefront and remove links to the store from your site.
